AOne’s ICT Functional Skills qualification will teach learners how to read and filter data in Excel spreadsheets, prepare emails, and use presentation software.  This course will teach learners the basics of computer use, allowing them to advance their skillset.

What is the process of taking a Functional Skills qualification?

Generally learners will start the process by completing an initial assessment, this is an online test to establish what your strengths and weaknesses are in the subject area.

Once this is complete, the learner will move on to complete activities and tutorials with their tutor.  They will be given a programme of learning and an idea of how long it will take to complete the qualification.

At some points the learning will be reassessed with diagnostic assessments.  This will allow the tutor to see whether you have improved through the activities and tutorials

When the tutor believes the learner is ready to take the exam, the learner will be given time to prepare and will have an opportunity to review the course material in the time leading up to the paper-based exam.  The tutor may also give you some  test papers to practise on and allow you to apply your new skills in specific scenarios.

Once the exam is complete, the learner will learn whether they have passed or failed – if they pass they will have gained a qualification in the subject!
