Social Care Training CoursesThe Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care replaces the NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care course. This internationally recognised qualification is the equivalent of an A-level qualification and is the UK industry standard for those working in the adult care sector. The training course is for those who hold some responsibility in their workplace, and work without supervision.

This Level 3 Diploma training course gives learners the essential skills and competency necessary to work with adults or children. The qualification is for workers in all social care settings, including primary care services, domiciliary care, residential care homes, day services and assisting supported living.

Delegates will learn essential health and social care understanding. They also  get the opportunity to tailor the course to suit them, choosing between the Adult pathway and the Children and Young People pathway.

The Level 3 Diploma course is available via e-portfolio, giving the student greater flexibility and the ability to learn at a pace that suits them.

Outline of Programme

To achieve a the full qualification, learners need to achieve a minimum total of 58 credits. These will be made up from mandatory (Group A) units worth a minimum of 28 credits, optional (Group B) units worth 2-7 credits, and optional Group C units worth at least 23 credits.

Mandatory Units

  • Unit 1: Promote Communication in Health, Social Care or CYP Settings.
  • Unit 2: Engage in Personal Development in Health, Social Care or CYP Settings.
  • Unit 3: Promote Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care or CYP Settings.
  • Unit 4: Principles for Implementing Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or CYP Settings.
  • HSC 024: Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care.
  • HSC 025: The Role of the Health and Social Care Worker.
  • HSC 036: Promote Person Centred Approaches in Health and Social Care.
  • HSC 037: Promote and Implement Health and Safety in Health and Social Care.
  • HSC 038: Promote Good Practice in Handling Information in Health and Social Care Settings.

Optional Units

The optional knowledge and competence units cover a variety of areas in health and social care such as adult care or health and social care for young people. Accreditation

The diploma is fully compliant with the Health and Social Care National Occupational Standards approved by Skills for Care and Development. This course is accredited by OFQUAL and will help your organisation to meet the conditions and standards required by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

How does assessment take place?

The course assessment includes an evaluation of work-based performance. Also presentation of evidence, witness statements and peer testimony, and question and answer sessions. Learners will need create a portfolio of evidence demonstrating that they can achieve the course objectives to the required standard.

Learners are appointed an accredited Diploma assessor who helps assemble their portfolio and guide them throughout the assessment. Email and telephone support is also on hand and course resources are provided when required.

What are the entry requirements?

Aone Social Care Training is an equal opportunities training course provider. Potential participants only need to have been employed in a vocational setting relevant to the occupational standards for Health and Social Care in order for them to complete the qualification successfully.

How long will it take?

This Health & Social Care training course is completely flexible and we encourage students to learn at their own pace. The awarding body do stipulate that the course is completed within 9 months, but most students will successfully finish the course in around 6!

How would I progress further?

Graduates can move on to the Level 4 Diploma or possibly the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care if they are in an appropriate management position. Alternatively we offer a huge range of specialist care courses to enhance their chosen pathway.
